Broken Goat 25K - Rossland, BC, Canada

July 15, 2017 - 0800 start for 25K

Broken Goat is BC's most rustic ultra. This unique point to point race takes runners up 4 peaks & 2 ridges along the 7summits trail and Red Mountain Resort, in Rossland, BC. Runners should expect a mix of single track and alpine trails with some peaks only having ribbon marking your way. Rossland is located approximately halfway between Vancouver and Calgary on Highway 3B, only 6 kilometers north of the U.S. border.

The 50k point to point route takes place on the beautiful “7 Summits” high alpine ridge trail while accessing several peaks & ridges via short, steep side trips along the way. The race proceeds along the peaks and ridges in the following order: Mt Plewman (2241m/7350ft), Unnecessary Ridge (2100m/6,888ft), Old Glory Mtn (2376m/7800ft), Record Ridge (1760m/5,772ft) Granite Mtn (2036m/6700ft), and finishes by climbing up Red Mtn (1591m/5218ft).

The Broken Goat 25k course follows the same route as the 50k course, only it doesn't include any of the side trips/summits along the way. Runners will be spoiled running along the “7 Summits” trail as it is one of the premier trails in the West Kootenays. Not to mention, the trail cruises at an average elevation of almost 2000m (6560ft). Runners will want to save some legs for the demanding descent on a mix of forest service road and amazing single track which will lead them into the finish at the base of Red Mountain Resort.
