After racing at Terrapin Mountain I took a very plesant drive up the Blue Ridge Parkway for an hour and dropped down past Crabtree Falls to where the Appalachian Trail crosses Hwy 56 to revisit a favorite Blue Ridge challenge, with four thousand feet of climbing in either direction and switchbacking technical trails that seem to wind all the way to heaven. After another night of good rest in my mobile accommodations - Chez Larry - I headed out by 0800 under overcast skies and 37 degrees to climb climb climb up until I yielded to 30 mph wind chills before returning under pure sunshine. The day was lovely and it was a good effort to work out any remaining metabolites from the previous day's race. Everything was good; I didn't wear a watch, and don't know how far I went! Just a few pics to share.
