Allegheny Front Trail
Backpacking Trip
May 22-25, 2009
This Memorial Day venture marks the eighth consecutive year that we have taken a traditional family hiking trip on Pennsylvania trails. Each year we choose a new
venue to explore the wild mountainous woods of Pennsylvania via trails that we have yet to set down tracks. Brother Don chose the Allegheny Front Trail this year,
a 41-mile loop trail that circles Black Moshannon State Park east of the community of Philipsburg. The trail enabled myself, brother Don, and cousin Bob to
traverse new territory that would add to our collection of memories and stories. The trip would prove both beautiful and eventful.

DAY ONE
Bob, Don and I met on Friday morning at the eastern trail crossing parking lot on Highway 504. We decided on a clockwise journey, so headed out from the
cars going south to take in some of the early overviews.
